1.) What kind of game is this?
Avengers Academy is a panfandom AU game. This means that even if your character is not originally from the setting this game takes place in, they must be "AU'd" in to match the setting. The overarching plot follows the mobile game of the same name, meaning the primary goal of the story will be to solve the mystery of the time fog that has swallowed the majority of the campus, and find new ways to clear it out. In the meantime, students will attend classes in order to better understand their powers and decide what to do with them.
2.) What can my character arrive with?
Think about going to college: what would you bring? A computer, linens, personal items, clothes... essentially, if it can fit in a briefcase or two, your characters are welcome to bring them to their dorm. Small pets are also allowed, though Nick Fury does have a strict, "NO SNAKES," policy. No one really wants to question why.
3.) Is there a language barrier?
Absolutely. The Marvel Universe is based on the real world, and unless you're Tony Stark and can invent something like a universal translator, you're either going to need to learn the language or hope someone else on campus knows it. Since the campus is in the heart of New York City, the most used language is English.
4.) How does attending class work?
Generally, it's assumed your character would go to class. If not, someone like Ares or Nick Fury himself would personally make sure to haul your character's ass to class, or detention, or both. So really, you want to go to class. Daily classes don't have to be logged every day, but it is a potential setting for a log.
5.) What classes can we expect?
The usual, mundane classes are still present: your maths, your sciences, your history classes. There are also more advanced classes for the super geniuses, so expect some people to be walking around campus talking about particle physics and quantum theory like it's just part of the weather pattern. And yes, magic classes are also a thing and usually taught by Odin. Good luck.
6.) Do I need to Know Avengers or other things Marvel to play here?
No, but it helps.
7.) Why should I play here instead of playing the mobile game?
Because you don't have to pay for it.
8.) Will this game ever not be invite only?
No.

1.) What kinds of powers can we have here?
As long as you can make your argument for it, you can have it. Outright magical powers (Loki, Doctor Strange), extreme technical prowess (Tony Stark, Doctor Octopus), flying (Thor, Falcon, Vision, nearly everyone), stretchiness (Kamala as Ms. Marvel, Mr. Fantastic), summoning creatures (just about everyone at some point in Marvel 616), or controlling the elements (Storm) or creatures (Squirrel Girl) are all documented powers in the Marvel Universe. It would be pretty hard to find something so ridiculous that the mod would have to say no to.
2.) What about world breaking powers?
Those would be considered on a case by case basis. If it's something like people won't like you when you're angry, that is usually acceptable. If it's something that your character can actually willfully control, then Nick Fury may have to ask (or demand) your character to wear a limiter so the power would be weakened.
3.) So I just have to match my character's powers to this universe?
That's it.
4.) What if my character has powers that work here, but I want to change them to something else?
That's fine too.
5.) What if my character doesn't have powers?
You can come in as a normal person, and have your character as a mundane class instructor, or general staff on the campus, instead of a student. Nick Fury could always use a Stan Lee to help clean up the grounds. If you change your mind later, you could always be like Pepper Potts and ask Tony Stark for a suit. Everyone knows he likes to show off.
6.) Can I make up powers for my powerless character?
That's fine too. You can use Superpower Wiki as a reference if you need ideas.
7.) What if my character is just really good at what he does?
Then you're probably Hawkeye, and Fury wants you to get your ass to class already. So yes, master thieves, brilliant deaf archers, and just about everything else are also accepted as "powers," even though they're not otherworldly in nature.
8.) Can my character be an instructor if they have powers?
Yes; Ares, Fury, Pym, and Odin can't run the place by themselves. Especially Pym. That guy loves blowing things up.
9.) Do I need a superhero name?
Not always; characters like Thor and Loki use their real names, if only because they're larger than life. Other characters, like Bruce Banner and Tony Stark, end up using names given to them by others. And of course there are the ones that name themselves. It's really up to you.
10.) Do I need to keep my identity a secret?
You can try, but chances are you'd be bad at it in this setting (hi, Peter Parker, I'm looking at you).

1.) What characters can be apped here?
Generally, if they appear in some form of media, they're accepted. Books, movies, TV shows, animations from country of your choice, video games, comic books, and web comics are all acceptable here.
2.) What about characters with little to no canon?
As long as they have a definable personality, you can app them.
3.) What about Marvel characters?
Of course.
4.) Even X-men?
Yes, provided that their AU history mentions they are transferring from Xavier's Institute to Avengers Academy, or they are coming in as instructors from there.
5.) So I used to play in this game called Institute...
That will be dealt with on a case by case basis, but generally the same rule would apply as any other X-men.
6.) What about OCs?
Yes.
7.) What about canon AUs?
This is another case by case basis, but the general rule is no duplicates. So no Squall from Final Fantasy VIII and Leon from Kingdom Hearts together at once. Characters like the female and male protagonists from Persona 3 being present at the same time are acceptable, however.
8.) What about MCs from Dragon Age? Mass Effect?
Main characters from these games would be more like OCs, but fall under the same general rule as Canon AUs. They will need to be significantly different from one another in order to be accepted. So you can have male and female Shepard together in game, but not two female Shepards; a male and female Warden, or two Wardens of either gender with significant power differences and backgrounds, but not two of the same.
9.) What does the AU history need?
The AU history can be anything you want, provided it makes sense in the Marvel Universe. Considering there are many ridiculous things that happen in the Marvel Universe, this leaves players with a lot to work with. Your character can originate from space, other dimensions, be built by some super genius, ect. Your options are literally about limitless. Just keep in mind that if your character is coming from Earth, that this is a "modern Earth" setting. Making up cities and small countries is fine and perfectly reasonable, but large countries that people would know about (outside of those already present in the Marvel Universe, like Wakanda) are not acceptable.
10.) Should my character's AU history match their canon history?
It doesn't really need to, even if they are a Marvel character. Having it closely resemble it, if you can do that with this setting, is preferable, but not necessary. What will really make a character the character they're supposed to be in this setting is their personality, not their back story. So keep that in mind when coming up with a back story that may alter the character's personality.
11.) But can I include their canon history and expand from there?
If the character's canon history could reasonably happen in this universe, you can say that their canon occurred up to a certain canon point. From there, you can either say that the events of canon caught Nick Fury's attention, or you can expand into AU from there.
12.) How old does my character need to be?
If your character is a student, the general range is "high school to college age", meaning between fifteen to early to late twenties. Exceptions can be made for young geniuses. If your character is an instructor, they can be any age twenty-ish and above. If your character is immortal or otherwise ageless, these rules do not apply. If your character is a robot, inquisitive natures are okay, outright childish to the point of resembling small children is not.
13.) How old do I have to be?
16 or older.
14.) Can my character get more powerful?
Yes! Every other successful AC, your character will "level up", and gain more abilities as long as they're within their skill set. For example, a magical character can upgrade a spell to the next tier up or gain a new spell, a speedster can get faster, super spies can have access to more tech, you can add more to your super suit, ect. You can have up to three new additions at a time, and must be declared on the AC page when the mod lets you know that you can level up. You do not have to have three all the time, so if you can only think of one or two new additions, that's fine.
15.) Is there a limit to the levels I can gain?
No; you can skip levels (meaning your character levels up but doesn't learn anything new), or you can choose to level cap at any time. If the mod notices a character getting too ridiculously powerful, however, you will be asked to scale it back a little.
16.) The most Important Question: Can my character get a cool new outfit at level up?
Every other level up, you have the option of changing your character's superhero outfit, yes. The change doesn't need to be significant, and you don't need to make a change at all if you can't think of one.
17.) Are there characters important to the plot?
Yes; since the main story of this game follows the plot of the mobile game, characters like Tony Stark, Loki, Janet van Dyne, Steve Rogers, and others will be important to the game's plot. These characters can still be applied for, however! Just when an event comes around, the mod will need to ask your character to fulfill a certain role in the plot. If these characters are not present, they will be played (probably badly) by the mod, and not available to interact with outside of the plot.
18.) So characters from the mobile game are on campus even if someone isn't playing them?
Yes.
19.) Janet has a clothing shop in the mobile game. What jobs can my student character have?
If your character has a hobby that they can market, you're welcome to turn that into a job. Otherwise, "jobs" would be the same as you would find in any other school setting: student council, class president, disciplinary committee, ect.
20.) Are player plots okay?
Not only are they okay, but they are highly encouraged. There will be major plot events at least every other month, but there may be larger gaps in between. Player plots are more than welcome to fill in these gaps.
21.) What plots are okay? Is murder acceptable?
Generally the mod would like to keep this a light-hearted game: this is a setting that is largely comprised of teenagers that don't know what the heck they're doing half the time played up for hilarity. That being said, villainous characters are also accepted and highly encouraged to be the villains that they are, so dark plots threatening the fate of humanity are acceptable. Plots that start with or eventually lead to murder will be heavily considered, and will have heavier consequences when they are carried out. Regardless, if you do plan a villainous plot, THERE WILL BE CONSEQUENCES, and not all of them will end with the All Father demanding you write an essay about him for two hours.
22.) What happens if my character dies?
Characters have been brought back from death, cloned, or otherwise reanimated in some form numerous times. ICly, your character will be stuck in the S.H.I.E.L.D Building for two days before they're allowed back out on campus, and the only thing they'll remember after their death is waking up to Nick Fury giving them a strict warning not to do it again, or go after the person who killed them, as the case may be.

Ultimately, this is just a preference. How you wish to AU the character is your choice, regardless of if they've been in the mobile game or not, as long as they are recognizable as the character via their personality.
